July 2, 2011

As I squeezed her leg, my mother told me about caring for her father for the past month.

She had come back Wednesday, and then he died Thursday.

In October we will see him again. He will be resting beside his wife at the temple. We will buy fruit and eat with all the families who have come to visit on that day. I don’t know how the dates are chosen, but twice a year, in March and October, my grandparents’ temple invites all the relatives of those resting with them for a simple feast.

I do think of it as resting.
